Caerphilly Kyokushinkai Karate is an established club in South Wales, United Kingdom, founded in 1984. It is part of the British Karate Kyokushinkai (BKK), one of the original organizations that introduced Kyokushinkai Karate to Britain, and is affiliated with the International Federation of Karate (IFK).

The club is led by Shihan Kevin Wells, 5th Dan, supported by experienced instructors Richard Sapey, 2nd Dan, and Paul Ridgeway, 1st Dan. The coaching team welcomes beginners and experienced practitioners, offering a supportive environment focused on technical development, physical fitness and the traditional values of Kyokushinkai.

Training includes kihon (basic techniques), kata, kumite and physical conditioning. Classes develop striking and blocking techniques, kicking, coordination, speed, endurance and practical fighting skills. Full-contact sparring is an important part of Kyokushinkai training, alongside discipline, self-control, respect and perseverance.

The club offers junior classes for children aged seven and above, as well as senior sessions for adults of all ages. No previous karate experience or high level of fitness is required to begin; participants develop their abilities progressively through regular practice. Training is suitable for those seeking a martial art, improved fitness or the challenge of competitive karate.

Members have opportunities to participate in tournaments featuring kata, non-contact, semi-contact and full-contact fighting. Caerphilly Kyokushinkai Karate continues to preserve the traditions of Kyokushinkai while helping practitioners build confidence, resilience and strong technical foundations.

Training takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at Aber Valley YMCA in Abertridwr, with separate sessions for juniors and seniors.
